The opening and closing numbers of the hit musical ‘The Phantom of the Opera’ are two of the most celebrated songs in theater history. These epic melodies set the tone for the entire production. Since 1986, ‘Phantom’ has captivated audiences all over the world.

The opening number titled, ‘Think of Me,’ is Christine’s lament about leaving her family. It is sung beautifully by star Sierra Boggess. When she arrives at her new home, she is recognized by an old love, Raoul, who picks up the tune’s melody as he sees his lost love again.

Christine is out of options, and she sings, “God give me courage to show you. You are not alone.” Then, she kisses the Phantom and hugs him. The Phantom frees the couple as the angry mob closes in.

Christine returns to hear the Phantom sing, “Christine, I love you.” She cries as she reaches out her hand to him. It is one of the most emotional endings in the history of musical theater as heartbreak is put to song masterfully by composer Andrew Lloyd Webber.
