The art of capturing childbirth moments through photography has become a trend and a beautiful memento for mothers. US-based photographer Kathy Rosario, who runs K Ro Photography, has been interested in capturing stunning photos of pregnancy, childbirth, and babies. Recently, photos she took of her close friend’s at-home water birth have gone viral. According to Kathy, capturing the moment of a woman giving birth at home creates an atmosphere filled with pure bliss and tranquility, making the moment even more special.

Kathy has shot six deliveries before, but this was her first all-natural water birth. The collection of photos was shot over two hours and documents the mother’s labor pains, the baby’s delivery, and the sweet moments of bonding right after the newborn comes into the world. The photos show the mother in a pink sports bra with her lower body submerged in water, supported by cushions, and with her hair pulled back in a ponytail. Cooling cloths were placed on the mother’s forehead and chest, and she sucked on a homemade “laboraid” popsicle packed with electrolytes to help keep her hydrated.

The birth was supervised by a skilled midwife, and the mother was able to pull her baby out herself. With the help of two midwives, the new mom got out of the tub, had a towel draped around her shoulders, and held her baby girl against her torso.

With the baby wrapped in a blanket in her arms, she then laid down in bed and tried to breastfeed for the first time.

The room smelled like lavender, and the mother was completely calm, even smiling and laughing between the pains.

Kathy Rosario believes that there is nothing more amazing than watching a woman give birth, and capturing the moment in the comfort of her own home makes it even more special.

The photos of her friend’s at-home water birth have received viral attention, and it is clear that the photos captured the beauty and serenity of the moment.
