Teenage virtuoso wows as singer and pianist with 1980s ‘True Colors’ song

When you think of great singers, you usually envision fantastic veterans like Andrea Bocelli or Tony Bennett. However, every once in a while, a prodigy arises from the youth, and that’s the description of Cormac Thompson.

When Cormac was just 12 years old, he auditioned for Season 15 of ‘Britain’s Got Talent.’ He comes from Lancashire in Northern Ireland, and for his audition, he sang ‘Run’ by Snow Patrol.

Although Cormac failed to make the semi-finals, he signed a recording contract with Decca records. He released his debut album titled ‘Hear My Voice.’ In this performance, Cormac sings ‘True Colors.’

His piano cover of Cyndi Lauper’s ’80s hit is receiving plenty of attention. He plays a grand piano while singing with the voice of an angel. He wears a blue suit with an open-collar white shirt.

His hair is grown and hanging over his eyes. Cormac delivers a perfect version of the tune, singing, “I see your true colors shining through. I see your true colors, and that’s why I love you.”

The song opens with a music box introduction as Cormac approaches the piano. After he sits down, he begins playing as the music box fades, and the piano remains.

As Cormac finishes the touching song, the music box sound returns from the introduction. Cormac sits at the piano with a single spotlight behind him as he stares into the distance.
