Many singers dream of singing the national anthem before America’s biggest night in football. Mickey Guyton had her dreams come true when she opened Superbowl LVI in Los Angeles at SoFi Stadium.
The rising country star was speechless at the opportunity to perform “The Star Spangled Banner” in front of tens of thousands of viewers in the stadium and watching from home.
Guyton cites Whitney Houston and Leann Rimes as two of her biggest singing inspirations. Ever since seeing Rimes sing the national anthem, Guyton knew she wanted to do that one day too.
Mickey Guyton was the first-ever black female country singer to pay tribute to America’s national anthem at the Superbowl. She was overwhelmed by the honor of her big moment.
Guyton was also the first black female country singer to perform at and be nominated for a Grammy Award. Her ambition knows no boundaries, and she is a star rising rapidly to the top.
Accompanied by an equally talented choir, Guyton blew the crowd away with her performance of “The Star Spangled Banner.” What an epic way to kick off the biggest ball game of the year!
