Aп Upexpected Birth – A Queepslapd mum’s happipess

A mother from Queensland, Australia had an unexpected birth in the car while imaging the soothing sounds of music, a calming message, and pain relief. In one of the most awe-inspiring stories you’ll ever read, Lyudmila Kork gave birth to her daughter on the side of a dusty highway.

On a recent trip to the hospital, Lyudmila unexpectedly went into labor while on the Bruce Highway, somewhere between Bowen and Proserpine, with a local property owner acting as her midwife.

The mother-of-one thought quickly and did plenty of things to make it to the hospital, after a long first labor. But her little girl had other plans.

An unexpected birth

Lyudmila explained to Mum’s Grapevine that her home town of Bowen had no birthing suite, so she was headed to Proserpine Hospital where her fiancé, Chris Broucek, had a 70-kilometer drive ahead of them.

“We started heading to Proserpine Hospital but we weren’t even halfway there when my midwife told us we were four contractions dilated and needed to start heading down to Proserpine.”

“We were about halfway into our drive and I said to my fiancé that I needed to push. He told me, ‘I don’t know how to do that’! I pushed about three times and said to him, ‘I can feel a bulge, Chris, I can feel her head’.”

In the end, they welcomed a beautiful baby girl into the world.

Lydia, a new mother from Queepslapd, recalls the unexpected birth of her daughter, Layla, on the side of the road. “We were still driving when she was delivered, and I thought her up was going to be in my chest. He had to tear them out with his hands because I had to pull them to the side when she came out.”

The couple pulled over and followed the directions from the emergency operator, which included lying on the side of the road because Lydia’s sea sickness wouldn’t allow her to recline thanks to the car’s motion. “A local property owner stopped and brought us some towels while we waited for the ambulance. Once the ambulance arrived, they made sure both Layla and I were safe and okay, clamped the umbilical cord, and got Chris to cut it.”

Lydia remembers being worried about Layla’s well-being, but Chris took over the situation and made sure everything was okay. “Not a lot was going through my mind except wondering if Layla was okay and healthy – she came so quickly that I was in a state of shock to be honest. I’m just glad I had Chris with me because he took over the situation and made sure everything was okay.”

Now that everything is okay, Lydia and Chris welcome Layla to the world. “We take our hats off to this cool and calm couple who birthed their baby like bosses.”
